Turns out that soldiers from both sides have long “enjoyed” having brawls with each other… apparently without bad consequences from their officers. What’s new, then, isn’t the fighting, it’s the addition of spikes to the cudgels. If I’m reading correctly between the lines.

I don’t know the history of this conflict, so I over-simplify, I’m sure. Why can’t the area in question be divided equally?
