CLARK I was just mentioning in the 60s, between the FCC and the lack of commercial availability, us audiophiles had to trip over miles of wire to record one, maybe two albums a week. Any idiot with a store bought computor can pirate hours in seconds today. Guess you never hauled 200 lbs of equipment into a Dead concert. Some were satisfied to listeh to the 3 minutes and 23 second recordings offered by the recording industry. Or only listen to the playlist issued by the FCC. I remember when the FCC banned drug related songs from our 2 FM “underground” stations. Never could understand how “The Pusher” promoted drug use, but when you allow the government to deny free speech, the pirates came in.

Lewreader apparently claims he remembers the ’60s. Obviously he wasn’t there.

Don’t jump to conclusions, galanti. Living in the sixties was a highly subjective and individual experience…a place and state of mind as much as a decade.

And yes, I was there — I was in college then. But not even everyone who went to college in the sixties has the same memories of it…in fact, not everyone I knew then would.

This should end with a real zinger. Perhaps the IRS charging 50% on said income. Perhaps Audits, scrutiny by G-men or blacklisting.

Maybe Gadhafi was offering 50 Cent tips on “How to Be More Crazy and Badass”…for a song or two.

This video satire on Qadaffi and rock is much funnier than GT’s latest strips:

Oh, I was there, fbjsr…and I’ve heard the joke too. But I never did try any recreational chemicals (other than beer, and not all that much of that). I might have tried them, since, like most college kids, I was young and fairly stupid, but the sad truth is that no one ever offered me any. I never hung out with anyone who lived that exciting a life, neither then nor since.

I sometimes wonder about what might have been. But it was what it was, and I am as I am.

I remember the sixties, but was overseas for a good part of it, and missed the ‘better living through chemistry’ until about ‘75.

What’s really sad is Jimmy is, as I recall, more 70’s pop waste of air time. So we really should be talking coke, disco and women in whore dresses.
