I thought the team’s decision to retire the number of its first black player is transparent and laughable if it wasn’t true.

pay attention to how we retired a number on a jersey. Do they think folks are stupid?

Don’t answer that. I forgot about who still being supported by roughly a third of this country’s residents

My wife is always a tad sardonic when the media carries on about racism against black people. Five Nations people seem to be invisible in the media in general…

I have never seen a person with red skin. Is the Cleveland team from India? Why aren’t the Vikings called the white skins?

It’s been suggested here in Wisconsin that we’re “a target-rich environment for people opposed to racially based mascot names”, except they were referring Indian team nicknames. I’m waiting for the outrage to extend to such “offensive” labels (based on a listing at MaxPreps, http://tinyurl.com/onc4c9w) as Bishops, Fighting Cardinals, and Popes (Catholics); Blackshirts (Italy); Buccaneers and Pirates (Caribbean); Coons; Cubans; Dons (Mafia); Elks (service clubs); Fighting Kellys and Irish (Ireland); Flying Dutchmen (Netherlands); Green Mountain Boys (New England, also boys); Highlanders (Scotland); Hurricanes and Thunder (meteorologists); Ledgers (accountants); Norse, Norsemen, Norskies, and Vikings (Scandinavia); Phoenix (Arizona); Rebels (southern USA); Spartans (Greece); Trojans and Fighting Trojans (Turkey); and Wizards (Hogwarts). People who are determined to feel offended should have a field day here in the Badger State.

Let’s just rename most of the US states while we’re at it; and many cities and counties as well. Then start on the rivers, lakes, streets, schools, and parks.

If you do care about racism, why not change the Washington’s team name?
