Bluey and Curly was indeed an old Aussie wartime strip- but the tradition of calling bulky people “skinny” or ginger haired people “bluey” is very old.
Just a note to readers: the next two weeks will be a selection of repeats from the last couple of weeks when I haven’t been able to draw Meggs due to injury. I’m back to the drawing board this week and will be back on board soon!

Wonder what my red-headed grandson will be dubbed when he’s old enough to go to school?!?

Isn’t “Bluey” just the opposite of Reds? Like calling a huge guy “Tiny”, or a bald guy “Curly”.
