We are all Heathcliff, and he is us collectively. We have made the cat into our golden calf, our husk in which we insert our own deity. I assumed Heathcliff was one of many modern gods, all of which only exist due to the power we have prescribed them, and would cease to be instantly without our continued praise. However, this thing of our own creation somehow has become more than what we made it. Heathcliff sustains itself. I am terrified, and I must know more.
