Several other cartoonists have mentioned this issue, which is more cogent recently what with this administration’s inability to cope with homelessness (pointing only one finger: Obama’s administration didn’t do very well either.)

What to know: Homeless folk are more at risk, and they penetrate society… though staying home will help isolate you and them.

Homelessness is handled on a local, state and fed level: in that order.

Municipalities that wish to shelter and separate homeless folks can probably do so without involving the fed. Colleges and universities are effectively closed – dorms can be used as temp shelters. Private colleges may not do this readily but state universities, with the blessing of the state government, could provide emergency shelter. They could also be used for drive-thru testing sites, auxiliary medical facilities in the case of bed shortages at hospitals, etc.

Do the homeless seem to migrate to the blue states? Interesting to see where the changes are occurring.

Hey! Stay 6 feet away from each other!

Interesting how homelessness increased 3% during the Trump admin, before the virus stuck. Expect the homeless to sky rocket, no public health care, 30% unemployment and a total right wing fascist jerk at the top. This is the Republican legacy.

Back during the Great Depression my father was send a CC camp to work. Maybe we could do something similar with the homeless and unemployed.
