because many of the old black and white movies had actual plots and character development, while many modern movies just do a special effect extravaganza leading to another special effects extravaganza with no real plot, and cardboard characters. In “Casablanca” you don’t see the ending of the movie until you get there, while watching “Spiderman” (any version/any number in the sequels) you know ahead of time that Spiderman will succeed in the end to have more adventures.
