    We don’t fix parts, we replace as many of them as we can.

    I went to one body shop for an estimate on a relatively minor repair. They asked if it was for an insurance claim. When I said “no” they told me they only took insurance claim work. It’s where the money is, I guess.

    I’d rather replace the glass bits than try to put them back together, for one thing!

    I worked in the shop for a GMC/Buick dealership years ago in Henderson,Texas. One day the Service Manager gave me an Old Beat Up Buick to check out for repairs,belonging to an Elderly Man. This car was barely able to get down the road yet alone worth “Repairing” The Man did not want to hear that and would not accept it,thought I was just Lazy. Even when I told him He Could Buy a Reliable Used car for way less than “Fixing” his. I asked him to wait while I got the Manager,told the Manager what was going on,he asked me to wait. He walked over talked to the guy and then the guy mumbling and such “Rattled and Smoked” out of the shop in the car and left. I asked the Manager what he had said. He told me " Well,I listened to him and then told him that he could “Repair” it if he Really Wanted To." " When asked How I Politely said it was a Real Simple Repair, We’d just Remove His Radiator Cap and Drive a NEW CAR under it !!!" I couldn’t help laughing at the Manager,but the Elderly guy couldn’t think of anthing to say and left quietly,It did work. :-) ( I’d of felt like a Thief /Con if I had accepted the car for repairs.) :-}
