What do you think socialism is? How about Social Security, farm and bank bailouts, Medicare, public schools, fire and police departments etc. Not a big fan of Bernie but NO fan of pinocchio t rump.
Pfft. Democratic Socialism. Are you such a fool that the word alone is enough to drive you away from the idea that the government should treat everybody as well as it treats the obscenely rich and big businesses?
Do you think Horses and Horse flies are the same thing? Baskets and basketballs? I reiterate: “Pfft.”
Democratic Socialism was the compact between government, business, and citizenry that built all of America’s infrastructure between 1930 and 1980.
Your elementary through high school, fire dept, police dept, library, roads, street lights, water treatment, dams, levees, airports, highway system, Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, Post Office, garbage, court house, FDA, OSHA, CDC, snow plows, street sweepers, electrical grid – all of that was our tax dollars used by the government to contract businesses to hire Americans to build our country into a powerhouse.
The Internet is pretty much the very definitions of socialism where a global cooperative maintains the structure for the benefit of everyone on it, and encompasses private, public, corporate, and governmental assets combined. If you are so dead-set against socialism, Lisa, you should unplug your computer, phone, gaming system, pad, or whatever device you use from the Internet and enjoy the freedom. We won’t miss you.
Your American Dream was built on Democratic Socialism. Unfettered capitalism destroyed it.
I had a guy on FaceBook tell me “Democratic Socialism” isn’t a real thing cause it’s not in the Webster Dictionary. My response: go read an encyclopedia like the ones from Britannica. We used to teach kids back in the day that encyclopedias are your source for historical information, not a dictionary. Lisa should use one to look up “Social Democracy”.
It doesn’t take a Nostradamus to predict right wing dumbass strategy, it’s the same as it always was, and will be for the rest of this year and forever; pick a word that neither you nor any of your base understands (Bernie says he’s a “democratic socialist”. That’s too complicated for me so I’ll just say he means “socialist”), make sure you equate it with something awful (socialism=Stalinst communism!) and just keep hammering at it non-stop.
Medicare for All is socialist. Public schools, roads, mail service, etc are socialist. Anything the government does to serve the people is socialist. Socialism is a scary word for Republicans. It is necessary for Republicans to use scary words to convince their base that they should remain loyal, because if they actually understood that they are voting against their own best interests they wouldn’t be Republicans. They have been taught that socialism is scary. 1%er owned news outlets have been telling them so for about 40 years now. So, if they are told someone is socialist, they don’t educate themselves to find out exactly what they are supposed to be afraid of. It’s a pretty shaky system and it’s amazing that people have fallen for it long enough for the country be in the condition it is, but they have.
I have been a Sanders follower for many years starting with the weekly “lunch with Bernie” segment of the Thom Hartmann radio show. I have always cringed at his insistence on labelling himself a Democratic Socialist." The word “Socialist” is so loaded with Cold War baggage that I was afraid it would come back to bite him in this country of information-challenged voters.

So either Lisa is too dumb to know what socialism actually is, or too uncaring to give any ’effs for working Americans.
Either way…

I think that Lisa MAY know what socialism is, but then she wouldn’t be able to smear a Democrat, and that’s what is REALLY important to sycophants.

Bernie will not be the nominee, but his participation has shown the party that there is much discontent among the young for change…

If people want a good example of socialism that works… look at the American military.
Affordable housing, tuition assistance, universal health care, reasonable gap between wages of high and low ranking individuals… etc

I’d STILL much rather live in a “Socialist” country then a “Fascist” one.
