Let’s see. The top 5% of wager earners. (people who make the most money) Pay almost 60% of all the income tax paid in this country.

About 50% of the all wage earners (people who make money) pay ZERO income tax. That’s zip, zero nada.

But YOU geniuses think the evil rich should pay more.

How many jobs do you think those 50% of people who pay zero income tax create?

It’s a pity public schools don’t bother teaching simple economics any longer.

You guys want to know the reason that stupid middle class taxpayers wanted the cuts extended? Because we don’t want any more money in the hands of a corrupt and clueless government.

    @jimxoo67:

You and the other teabaggers are actually pretty close to being right on the money with one big exception–Substitute “big corporations” for “big government.” You are right–you are being screwed, but it ain’t the big government that’s doing it to you.

Someone needs to explain to teabaggers that everyone pays payroll taxes, that Reagan (as one of his 11 tax hikes) doubled them to pay for Social Security, and that if you measure tax burden the way normal people do the burden is much more equally distributed. However, the top 2% of the population own about 90% of the wealth in the US.

Tax breaks for the wealthy is so repugnant, I don’t even like to think about it. Also, I hate to think about Swiss bank accounts, business tax loopholes, American jobs going overseas, and now, many worker’s rights being taken away. What is this country coming to????

Hey, rickbooker, get your numbers right. The top 5% don’t pay 50% of their income, they account for 50% of the revenue. They pay less of their income than the middle class, because large chunks of income available only to the rich (e.g., capital gains, inherited wealth) have far lower or zero taxes compared to earned income. Look up what Warren Buffet said - he pays less on his TOTAL income than his secretary. Your comment on 50% paying no income tax – straight from FoxNews – is also deceptive. People below a certain income level still pay plenty of taxes, just not income taxes. FICA, sales taxes, etc., etc. So your assertions are wholly without merit.

“About 50% of the all wage earners (people who make money) pay ZERO income tax. That’s zip, zero nada.”

Plenty of billion dollar businesses and churches also earn pay ZERO income taxes. The upper class also pay income taxes at a lower rate than the middle class due to the capital gains tax being only 15%. Was Warren Buffet himself said, those of us in the same tax bracket as his secretary pay a higher % of their income in taxes than he does.

@jack - In their “altruism” they’re suddenly going to stop using tax loopholes to pay essentially nothing because that’ll make them “feel good.” Just like all of those jobs they’re making with the record profits they’ve been enjoying…

@rickbooker trolling out the GOP’s specious talking lies. His data may be factual in the Rovian cookbook but the fact is most large corporations in this country move their profits off-shore to avoid paying taxes. Fix that problem and all the woes attached to the current labor strife and right-wing machinations to further burden the working class would disappear. The rich need to abandon their fantasies of world domination and start paying their FAIR share. Follow the money—whom but the rich are stuffing Walker’s campaign coffers and now paying for the current onslaught of television ads seeking to cement his ill-considered policies for fiscal management at the expense and detriment of hard working teachers, health-care providers, janitors, police and fireman, etc.

rickbooker, it’s a pity public schools don’t teach how to interpret statistics correctly. And how to think.

^^ Public schools used to teach kids how to think… and then we got the SOLs. In my classes we actually got to try things and experiment. With the SOLs in place teachers had to teach to specific material in order to make sure their kids could pass the test.

^ Interestingly… you speak out against public sector unions, and then contradict yourself by pointing out that the results of their teaching unions is above the national average.

You morons prove one truism. If you rob Peter to pay Paul you will always have the support of Paul. That in a nutshell is the democrat socialist tax and spend mentality.

I “trolled” out no ones talking points. I, unlike you lemmings, do my research. Tax numbers are from the IRS. Gee they have a website. go look it up genius.

GAO showed that from 1998 to 2005, 2/3 of American corporations paid NO TAXES WHATSOEVER! There of course is no connection at all to our economic problems, or debt, either the states or nationally, nope, none at all.
