Greg, I had open heart surgery (valve and aorta replacement) last September and did not have this many restrictions.

JanBic, the restrictions are to keep from pulling the leads or the pacemaker itself loose ‘til everything’s healed properly in place. On the other hand, besides those restrictions, they also tell ya “Return to your normal life”… Well, lemme tell ya, when you’re trying to do a boot-camp-style workout and your jumping jacks look lopsided and your burpees are (attempted) one-handed- it doesn’t LOOK ‘normal’. Looks sorta dumb.

I was a soldier. Served in Vietnam. Watched tracers crisscrossing right around me. I was 20 and unafraid. I became a cop. Seen and faced more scary things for 40 years. I turned 65 and suddenly became terrified. I only have a short time left. I came to facing my own mortality. We teach how to live…..there are no lesson plans on how to die. So I thought about it late into the deep night. Came to a conclusion. All you can do is just keep going. Appreciate things a little more. Live normally. Love unconditionally. Enjoy your decaf……you got a few days more to go. And poo on those who condemn your lopsided jumping jacks…….let them face what you have faced…..see how brave they are.
