Heart: Think about it, Dean...there's murder, intrigue, love stories, betrayal....all the hallmarks of an old fashioned soap opera! Dean: I can assure you not one soap opera ever had a trade embargo issue! heart: Good lord, the only thing missing from "star wars" is commercials for lady products.

It was never revolutionary for the story. It was always the otherworldly-ness and special effect but mostly it was the timeing and then the marketing.
