Mike, Mike, Mike: It is against the law to ask a foreign government to intervene in the election process. You know, like if you get caught blackmailing someone, you can go to jail? That kind of illegal. But if the President does it, it’s not just illegal, it’s also impeachable. It’s right there in the constitution. You can read it for yourself. Assuming you can read it for yourself.
That’s not what he said. And no, Mike, we not stupid enough to believe your assertion that the most corrupt American president* in history, who often declares his love for other corrupt leaders, was genuinely concerned about stopping any corruption.
Did Lester create this narrative, a post-truth fairy tale? Does it accurately reflect what the resident’s purpose was?
" … There are no electronic filters that separate truth from fiction. No cognitive “V-chip” to sort the gold from the lead. We have but one tool to apply: critical thinking. …"
There has been investigative journalism into the crimes, power abuses, obstructionsand other scandals Ol’ Punkinhead’s so-called administration has perpetrated. But that good work has fizzled. The problem seems to be two-fold. First, Ol’ Punkinhead’s supporters are so prejudiced against other viewpoints that they discount or ignore the facts when confronted with them. Second, they aren’t confronted with these facts because they pay no attention to investigative journalism that exposes those crimes, power abuses, obstructions, and other scandals.
Want a little investigative journalism? I suggest that you should listen to the complete, unedited Kelly interview (and its coda) with Pompeo on NPR’s Weekend Saturday (1/25/30). There is also a transcript available. Apply and compare that tete a tete to what we understand about the unshakeable MAGA coterie’s response to that interview to your own response. Interesting, no?
If he had said that or words even close to that, there would be no case. “We’d like you to do us a favor or you don’t get any military aid” is completely different as is “you need to announce an investigation publicly”.
Trump makes infamous phone call to Ukrainian President Zelensky waaay back in summer of 2019. House of Representatives eventually impeaches Trump for obstruction related to contents of said conversation.
1/24/2020 a light bulb goes on over head of Mike Lester (most things go over the head of said Lester).
“I know, I know, I know,” thinks ML. “What if the Republican propaganda media machine gears up to persuade America and the world that Mr. Trump’s phone call was made on behalf of a former United States Vice President, to save said VP from blowback for the actions of his own son, making Mr. Trump a heroic, genuinely caring, true American presidential hero?
“Well, of course,” ML goes on to think, “not even ultra-conservative heads-in-the-sand GOP America will fall for that one.
“But I’ll cartoon that premise, and scapegoat the non-conservative-propaganda-machine US press — you know, the lame stream media as Sara calls ‘em (hee hee, that Palin bunch, what a bunch of hilarious cards they are! — and everybody whose opinion I value will think I am so clever and witty!”
Except everybody (meaning right wing jut job conservatives like ML) are going “Jeez, Lester, this cartoon makes you look unbelievably stupid, it is not even a “nice try”, it does not help the Dear Leader or any of the rest of us, and we’re not going anywhere near this idiotic thing.”
“You don’t have to actually investigate; just make a big public announcement. And if you don’t come up with what we want to hear, kiss that millions in aid money goodbye and say hello to your new boss, my friend Vlad”.
Always a treat to see Trump’s army of volunteer lickspittles, assembling behind him with snow shovels and power washers, dutifully managing their master’s constant diarrhetic spray of criminal confession, to try and reassemble it into something a little less illegal. Which is a bit like trying to rebuild an outdoor latrine to be less smelly.
It must be exhausting, having to contort oneself to defend such a subhuman piece of garbage all the time, but I guess it’s a small price to pay for the chuds, so that they may continue making minorities lives terrible and laughing at liberals for being upset about our Kid’s Koncentration Kamp.

Wow, you must have access to the full transcript because the travesty that the White House released doesn’t say anything like that.

Well constructed political cartoons have their slackers too.

Trump cannot be blackmailed for his children’s crooked activities because he is behind them and supporting them. Mo’ Lester lies.

Real conservatives value facts. Lester does not. What does that make him?

Is that the latest attempt at re writing the perfect call. Nice try.

Just another LIE by Lester.
Lester conveniently omits the blackmail, which was the entire reason for the call. A perfect omission.
AS IF Trump – or Lester – were interested, in the slightest, in reducing corruption.

Fact: Congress mandated aid go to Ukraine
Fact: All responsible agencies certified that they were confident Ukraine would allocate the aid as intended & not to corrupt officials.
Fact: Trump ordered the aid withheld, despite this. He has yet to give a credible & documented explanation to Congress.
Fact: Rudy Giuliani was telling Ukrainians that the President wanted an investigation into Burisma.
Fact: If there were cause, Trump could have the FBI & DoJ investigate Hunter Biden, with resources far greater than anything Rudy could muster.
Fact: Mikey & the spineless Senate Republicans would rather approve of crimes, than putting Mulvaney under oath.

Yeah, right, that was Trump’s concern all along. His concern for the integrity of the Democratic front runner and possible blackmail.
What a swell guy.
No. Trump abused his authority for personal gain and placed the security of the United States at risk.
