I will say this just once, rather than on every cartoon today. This is a coverup. Everyone knows it’s a coverup. The Republicans know what they are doing. They have no excuse. Meanwhile, the Schiff is establishing a record so that people in the future will be able to look back on this moment in American history and know it for what it really is. They will know that the Republicans in the Senate participated in a coverup.
The evidence will come out.. now or later.. and the Senators will have to live with their choice. And if they ignore this opportunity to do something to stop the madness of trump.. what will they say when trump continues (as he will) .. and really does stupid stuff. OOPS.. might be funny but the consequences are not.
Steve, I know this isn’t the same as a court case, but isn’t it the job of prosecutors to get testimony against the accused? The defense looks for witnesses to exonerate the accused, correct? The jury doesn’t call witnesses at all. Why should this be greatly different, and why should the GOP do the job the Dems forgot to do or ignored in their rush [sic] to start the trial?

“More evidence” and “witnesses” would be an insult to the constitution and shake the structure of government and society to its foundations.
Seriously. Do these boys and girls ever listen to themselves? Do they ever blush? How many times did we hear McTurtle proclaim that this impeachment trial would be conducted exactly like the Clinton trial. Exactly like it.
And then the aged tortoise emerges from his noisome grotto with a set of “rules” drafted in secret designed to make a mockery of the whole process, not to mention of his many solemn statements about the “Clinton rules” with weird arglebargle about “it’s what the American people want”.
And, best of all, the “Trial” will be over and done with before the Sunday chat-shows! It’s perfect!
