    It was the Carter appointment, Volcker, who ended Reagan’s recession and slowed inflation. Reagan was smart enough to stay out of the way but grab all the credit. But Volcker built ‘Reagan Republicans’.

    I don’t know that Volcker actually ended “stagflation” as much a the country finally changed from a (vietnam) war economy to a peace economy. Government spending has a large effect as well as proper taxing laws.

    Former Fed Chair Paul Volcker wrote a blistering critique of Trump shortly before his death

    Volcker writes, “Nihilistic forces are dismantling policies to protect our air, water and climate. And they seek to discredit the pillars of our democracy: voting rights and fair elections, the rule of law, the free press, the separation of powers, the belief in science, and the concept of truth itself.”
