I think the critiques of this one will be a bit of a — what is the name of that bird I’m thinking of? — turkey, turkey shoot. Any body who gets news outside of the right wing reality distortion field knows that the polling on this is running mid 50s think it’s impeachable, to low 40s (can we say partisan divide) think it’s not. Granted, very few think Moscow Mafia supporting Mitch will allow an impeachment finding in the Senate, but that’s a different cartoon, and a different scandal.
The question is whether, in reaction to all this the former GOP, now the COT, Cult of Trump, can repulse enough “independents”, young voters (whose lives literally depend on the outcome), and anti-establishment 2016 Trump voters (who are having third and fourth thoughts about what they got) to turn out in the kind of numbers we saw in the recent Hong Kong election. Failure to impeach, and a second term for the COT will see a total take over by mob supporting billionaires, an even more accelerated transfer of wealth resulting In collapses of both the environment and the global economy – and we won’t get a third chance to undo the damage.
Varvel’s rather limited grip on reality is clearly demonstrated by the fact that he drew 79-year-old Nancy Pelosi cooking Thanksgiving dinner in spike heels. This is quite creepy and fetishistic, and I now dread his plans to draw Michael Bloomberg in a Speedo.
Cross your fingers, Varvel! If your lucky, Moscow Mitch will undermine the Constitution, and shield your orange lord and master from justice, and you’ll have at least another year of corruption and cronyism!
Varvel has a point: Among the people who think he’s a good, informative, useful cartoonist, there is near zero support for impeachment. Of course among people who are both reality based and patriotic, the opposite is true.
