My pay raises are based on COL (that is inflation for you trump supporters). My biggest raises in the last 8 years have been during trump’s reign. For the trump supporters, that isn’t a good thing.
The toon makes a very good point. My experience is that there is significant inflation but according to the Fed’s estimate there is hardly any like 1.5%. So that is how much of a bump I will get from Social Security this year. But, my average for groceries, eating out, clothing has increased by at least 10% for 3 years in a row. Granted fuel prices are down but that does not make up the difference.
They keep tightening the screws on the middle class, prices have gone up faster in the last four years than pay raises. But hey, more tax breaks for billionaires will solve everything.
The stock market indicates the buying tendencies of the consumer. So increases in stock prices are just one aspect of the economic picture. There are already indications that the American people are dialing back their purchasing of nonessential items. Where the workers disappear to no one knows, but hundreds of workers are starting to be laid off by the large corporations. They don’t appear on the unemployment numbers. SO WHERE ARE THEY GOING…CAGES ON THE SOUTHERN BORDER?
I love hearing people complain about the state of American culture (young people and teenagers), yet denigrate schools and teachers, while refusing to pay them for the value of their work.

Sucks to be in the middle class, which is under assault in the U.S. by the government.

You don’t need to list all of your obligations (it’s depressing to do so) – just look at your checking account. It may answer the question.

If you’re part of the 1%, the economy is the bestest ever. Part of the 99%? Not so much.

Or, do what I did. Get a part time job, go back to school and get a better degree (Civil Engineering)!
