Except after the Second World War, Congress and presidents seem to have a “what have you done for us lately” attitude toward combat veterans. With what trump and the repubs spend on investigating Hillary, golf outings, first-class air travel for appointees, the “sound-proof” booth in the EPA, and so many other payouts for themselves, it’s a wonder the military still gets volunteers! We all read about the VA scandals! And Brian: I like how you portray Harry. Truman was an artillery officer in the First World War.
Let’s throw a celebration instead of doing (much) that’s actually useful. (Heck the could have held it at the 6th hour of the 6th day of the 6th month, right?)
At least the number of stars on the flag is correct. I was the judge for my poll last Tuesday, and the book of the registered voters still has 48 stars on it. It’s 60 years in arrears!

As long as the military has a limitless supply of young people to send off to war, it never worries about the ones who come back.
