He currently has 7 quarters and 13 dimes.
The math is a little complicated for an 8 year old, though.

There are two ways to do this problem. One is the painstaking way, which involves algebra. The other is to realize that each time you turn a dime into a quarter, you gain 15 cents. If you end up with 90 cents more, then that’s six dimes that got turned into quarters that weren’t cancelled out. So there are six more dimes than quarters – 13 dimes, 7 quarters.

Come on, Peppermint Patty. You’ve got this. All you need to do is convert the dimes and quarters into French Monarchs and then solve for Louis.

I aint an 8 year old, am jow 65 n i still cant figure these math problems…hence me failing math all thru high school n having to take a remedial math class in college!
