Walmart 1138 Time and a Half Day. That’s for me and a few other associates. Inventory is less that a week away, so they are approving overtime. I have always said that my favorite time is time and a half. So, although this is my day off, I plan on going in for a few hours of OT. The weather is supposed to be nice early in the day, so I want to enjoy some time outdoors in my lawn swing with a good book, and then go to work in the late afternoon when they are expecting it to rain. Five or 6 hours of OT (depending on what time I decide to go in), plus the hour or so I got today and maybe a little more OT on Friday and I should get a pretty decent paycheck on the 17th of Oct.
Oops – I guess I was more tired than I thought last night because I just looked back at yesterday’s comments and I saw that where I said I was posting a picture of Lovebug in a cat bed, I posted a picture of my pumpkin instead. Here is Lovebug.
This is actually part of a doll bed that my dad bought at an auction when I was about 7 or 8 years old. This is just the part that lifts out. It has a base with wheels and storage space for doll clothes & stuff. I still have that, too, but it’s upstairs in my garage. I don’t need that part. The cats like the bed just fine on the little parson’s table in front of the upstairs hall window.
The way our pumpkin contest works at Walmart is that each pumpkin has a small jar in front of it. We put our pumpkin’s name on the jar (mine is Scary Hairy) and we “vote” by putting money in the jar. The money all goes to Children’s Miracle Network (CMN). The one with the most money in their jar wins. Later, I want to take a picture of all the entries. Then I can share that here. I’m still hoping for second place because I think the one of Lilo and Stitch (2 pumpkins, one entry) will win. But there was money in my jar today so someone voted for my pumpkin. So far, there are 7 pumpkins in the contest, with 2 more signed up who have not turned in their pumpkins yet. Last year, we only had 3 entries and we all won a prize. This pumpkin contest was my idea as a fund raiser for CMN and it was very popular the first year or two, but then we had a hard time getting people to enter. I’m glad we got better participation this year. This is our 5th or 6th year doing this. We skipped one year due to lack of people signing up.
Annie looks rather sad in the third panel. She must be heartily sick and tired of Chesney and Jack sometimes.
On another note, I shall be incommunicado for the next few days. Leaving tomorrow morning (and may not have time to comment on anything) for Thanksgiving at the cabin, and I’ll be back sometime on Monday.
Well, Annie knows who he is discussing. She should be home in bed, it’s dark out there. I suspect her grandparents are fast asleep before she is even home!
