Sharp tools always work best. But it costs money to sharpen them and don’t forget you have to make two trips to get it done: once to drop them off and once to pick them up. I live next to a big city and it seems easier to find a violin repairman than a place to get tools sharpened.

Just keep looking around. You’ll be able to find good tools.
