Ah, so this is how Scott is going to handle the impeachment inquiry: by being sniffily superior to anything that might smack of (gasp! shudder!) politics. If Congress was actually nonpartisan and thoughtful, the Republicans would have joined the Democrats to heave Trump’s crooked, senile ass overboard forever ago.
This phony “impeachment” inquiry is not legitimate. If the Dems were acting under the rules of the house they would VOTE to impeach. Instead they are doing a one sided, partisan attempt to deceive America into thinking Trump is being impeached.
The fact is they dont want to force thier vulnerable dems in Trump-leaning districts to actually vote for impeachment. In addition, because they are hyperpartisan and also liars, they dont want to allow the Republicans the proper minority rights an impeachment vote would require. They dont want to allow the Republicans to subpoena the complete phony “whistelblower” (a professional dem connected to a dem presidential candidate). They dont want the Republicans to produce a legal discovery of the obviously corrput activities of Biden, Clinton and Obama in Ukraine and Russia for thier proven efforts to meddle in the 2016 elections.
No, just expect the people who have a demonstrated hatred for the USA and her Constitution to bleat false cries of defending the same Constitution. Baloney! You cant in one breath call for an end to the 2nd ammendment and the electoral college and THEN claim to be supporting the constitution in this instance.
In the two presidential impeachments of the modern era, the House did have an official kickoff vote on a resolution authorizing the way ahead. That’s important precedent, and could make voters and Republican officials view the process as more serious.
But House rules don’t appear to require such a step. And it typically has not been used in impeachments of other officials, notably federal judges, which begin in the Judiciary Committee and go to the full House after the panel has completed its investigation.

Millions of words will be bandied about on the subject, but in the end it won’t amount to a load of dingos kidneys what anyone says. Events will roll on.
