Yeah, this was why no Flash villain made any sense (until they finally gave him a speedster to battle). Fight is over .0001 second after it begins. While Superman was supposedly just as fast he seldom used it. Lex Luther would never be able to complete a threatening sentence before he’d be in jail… Heck, it wouldn’t finish a single word.

A high school friend of mine’s father was a ballistics engineer. My friend asked him to calculate the force required for Superman to reach the speed of light assuming that one jump did it all. I don’t remember the numbers but assuming instantaneous application of force, it could push the Earth out of its orbit.
