The problem with his followers isn’t new. For generations they’ve been unable to separate attacks on people like this racist megalomaniac from what they’ve been convinced as attacks on their country. They can no longer conceive that their guy isn’t America, not just American. Look at Nixon followers, Joe McCarthy followers, etc. Propaganda blinds them and sells them a bill of goods that they cannot, will not see as a raw deal for everyone.
