    Not surprising. I’ve seen the doll and it’s quite a nice collectable. If I was into Barbie and/or Day of the Dead I would certainly pick one up.

    I find that the term “cultural appropriation” usually comes up when money is involved. Personally, I believe that any culture could stand to have a few improvements from the outside.

    In the 90s, there was a Barbie in a Mexican China-Poblana dress. They did some other traditional outfits from other countries. I was tasked with finding one for my grad school’s Hispanic Student Association to be part of a prize bundle for a Hispanic Heritage Month event. I bought a few extra because I knew some of the ladies in the club would want one once they saw it, cultural appropriation or no.
