How far is Oxford from wherever “Andy Capp” comics take place?

Today’s strip is slightly funny , how can anyone explain how our Hero Mr Andrew Capp has found himself miles away from his home patch? :o{ my avatar today is of a kid in time-out thinking about appealing to his grandma to intervene , my grandkids used to try that but as is proper nobody should interfere with parents decisions so she never did , how was your day Cappers past and present? our should be busy but not hectic I hope

There was one time that Dick Van Dyke got amnesia on his show and wound up in another town.

Something tells me Andy had some help to cover that much ground.

I once woke up and discovered I was at my desk in school!!!

Once many years ago,I woke up in a front yard in Wisconsin. About 50 MI. from home. No idea what I was doing there!

“Where is this?”

“Oxford.”

“Bleedin’ ‘eck, I was tryin’ ter get ter Cambridge!”

When I first got to Germany in the Army. I started to drink more than I should have. A lot of this was due to the unit I was wide had more then a few parties. I was stationed in Heidelberg. One early Saturday I found myself on a train to Munich. I had a return ticket to Heidelberg and also had changed trains in frankfurt. The night before was very hazy as I do not remember going to the train station nor the transfer. After that, I was a two-drink lightweight. To this day I suspect I was pranked. I learned my lesson early.

At least Andy didn’t wind up at Loch Ness. Nessie might have eaten him!

Chalky & the Lads probably paid a Lorry driver heading that way to take him, passed out, as a gag!

Now Andy can tell his mates he was at Oxford!
