In college, a few friends belonged to the local skydiving club. I was about to join and get trained, when, the Monday before the next weekend class, one of the members showed up with a cast on her arm. A gust of wind had popped up just after she landed and dragged her and slammed her arm into a large protruding rock. I waited until the next class started, about a month later. Again, on the Monday before the weekend’s class start, the club VP showed up on crutches and a cast on his ankle. About 50 feet above the ground, his chute passed through a dirt devil (mini tornado) and collapsed so that he hit the ground at twice the normal velocity.
