According to the Julian calendar (which was in effect at the time), George Washington was born on February 11, 1731 (O.S.). According to the Gregorian calendar, which was adopted in Britain and its colonies in 1752, he was born on February 22, 1732.
I have today off. I work part time for county and adminstration has this off. For our part we will work on taxes.
I wish I could change my avaitor in honor of President’s Day but GC is having issues. I’ve seen poster’s aviators eliminated to blank.

George and his father didn’t get along well. Augustus Washington never treated the children of his second wife (of which George was the eldest) as well as he did the children of his first. In all the letters written by Washington that survived, he never mentions his father. If the young George had cut down the tree, he probably wouldn’t have said anything about it.

One of my colleagues wouldn’t stop complaining about what a shame it is that the birthdays of Washington and Lincoln were combined into one holiday that honored all presidents. I’d finally had enough, and suggested we celebrate every president’s birthday with a holiday; only two presidents share a birthday (Polk and Harding) and Cleveland served twice, so that gives us 41 holidays. Then let’s start adding every person who worked for civil rights…well, you get the idea. Pretty soon we’d end up with every day being a holiday, and that simply doesn’t add up.
