Clark Kent said: “The meek shall inherit nothing.”

Whatever else you believe (or apparently in your case, not believe), the meek do inherit a quieter, more peaceful life, and leave behind kindlier memories of themselves among those who knew them.

Even if that’s all there is, I’ll take it gratefully, and leave it to the tough guys (like you, I imagine) to try to gain anything more.

Calling dibs on things isn’t very meek. The meek don’t piss people off & get screwed out of the will. I got a house.

Or, as RAH put it - “The meek shall inherit the Earth - about 6’ x 3’ and 6’ deep.”

I prefer “The meek shall inherit the Earth - the bold shall inherit the stars!”

Biblically, “Meek” means “possessing self-control,” not “wimpy.” Ironically (considering the comments above), Clark Kent is a perfect example of meekness; while having the strength of Superman, he keeps it under control and acts like an ordinary human.

Those who can control themselves will inherit the earth.

Another idea is that the “humble” will inherit the earth–because to be humble is to be close to the humus/earth.

Blessed are those who expect nothing, for they shall not be disappointed.
