I don’t think I’ve had food delivered to me since college in the 80’s. Probably a good thing. Back then it was always Dominoes. Their pizza was awesome. They’ve messed with the recipe over and over since then and it’s always worse and worse. While you probably couldn’t pay me to eat Dominoes today, I’d pay $100 for an original version of pepperoni. :)
After the Scandal that came out last week about the company that confiscates it’s delivery person’s tips… How can anyone say that the people in the service industry get plenty of tips to make up for the lack of wages.!? Today in the service industry, the IRS automatically adds a percentage of the bill as being the expected tip to the earnings of minimum wage workers in the service industry. That imaginary money that is taxed by the IRS… means that workers take home a great deal less than minimum wage. So yeah, those delivery people are probably hungry and if the food is good…
The article says 28%. And doesn’t say which “study.” Half the drivers say they were sucked into bad behavior by the smell. The largest number of driver complaints: Small or no tips. The largest number of customer complaints: Food old/cold.
We have chosen to live far enough from town that it’s not an issue: They don’t deliver there. But that’s doubly okay: We don’t like that stuff anyway, and it’s very expensive, even if we did. Every once in a long while, I’ll order and go get, but that’s probably no more often than every other year?

See David Brooks’ tweet about waiters and the bill — and the responses.
