    Actually, diet soft drinks are not a perfect substitute for water.

    Diet drinks are actually worse for you, in that the average person’s body still absorbs the artificial sweeteners therein as it would sugar, but doesn’t know how to process it. Therefore it retains both the sweetener and the liquid.

    Really bad idea, if only for the caffeine. As a PA he should know this and recommend something like Pedialite or even flavored water.

    Start with the sugar-free stuff, get the kid started on liquids. … THEN switch to Pedialyte! In where I live, they USED to raise their kids drinking MOUNTAIN DEW right off the bat!!!

    I’d find another doctor/PA fast if mine recommended giving any soda, sugar-free or not, to a baby. That is just wrong.
