When I was a kid, we just burned, except noses got white zinc oxide. I now get little skin cancers every so often (the “not so bad” kind, so far). Nowadays, I occasionally use sunscreen on my arms, but wear a hat and long pants (I am not a beach-goer, so the hat actually helps). PS: Skiing on a clear day is also a way to get plenty sun burned!

Summers for 10 years had to wear short-sleeved shirts with the uniform, haven’t warn anything but long sleeves since. Still outdoor work after than, and get lots of “spots” frozen off, also ski patrol in winter glare is worse. Cancer ain’t for sissies.

Do what my parents did, require the wearing of thin, long, loose, sleeves and a sun hat if you were going to be out in direct sun for a long time. The hat is a thing we got out of the habit of using on a regular basis, first because of the “sun worshipers tan” phase, followed by a long period of using sun block. It may be time to start again, even with our memories of them being from a more formal period (both in dress and socially).

The sun is most intense between the hours of 10:00am and 2:00 pm. So go from there…..

Check ingredients in sunscreen, EWG is best source. This new idea of no or little sunscreen is ridiculous.
