All the anchor stores in my mall closed down. Never could figure out how there was such a demand for anchors in a landlocked city to support more than one anchor store.
The small mall near me has a gym and a grocery store as anchors, and the rest are places you go for services (like beauty salons) or buy bulky things you need to try out (lawn equipment). I think there is still lots of need for specialty stores or places that offer services. Things are changing, but they always have been changing.
