The answer is NOT ethanol. It takes too much water to make (that we don’t have), is bad for small engines like lawnmowers, and doesn’t have the calories that gasoline has, so it is less efficient.

8-10 million additional cars annually hitting the road in China; other developing countries similarly motorizing; Hubbert’s Peak Oil theory; countries in denial - prepare for higher oil prices.

First, get rid of ethanol…..it’s not cost effective and it’s an anchor on the economy….dragging on it…………..

I keep hearing how solar and wind power are not competitive with oil and coal without their government subsidies. How about we get rid of the fossil fuel depletion allowances and tax breaks. Then you’d see how expensive they really are.

0bama’s policies’ impact on the price increases of energy in general and gas in particular is irrefutable.

There is a direct correlation between cause and effect in pricing of commodities. Speculators tent to temporarily exaggerate such effects, as they react / anticipate such changes …

When you restrict the provision of the least expensive and most accessible energy sources, and pursue a Fata Morgana instead, it doesn’t improve the Fata Morgana any, but it sure as hell increases the costs of the fissile based energy.

While GWB failed in his attempt to increase the production of inexpensive energy, he was blamed for the price increases.

0bama has been very successful in limiting the production / exploration of fossils, and his EPA recently revoked a permit for a new coal mine - with several like actions pending.

Europe has long had high gas prices due to taxes, and fuel efficient vehicles. The “Arab Oil Embargo” was orchestrated, as pointed out in the movie “The Formula” by those American oil companies like Chevron, that built oil storage up in the Philippines prior to the “embargo”, for two years to get ready for it. Oil prices are mandated not by OPEC, but by a broader cartel controlled by Exxon Mobil, Royal Dutch Shell, Chevron Texaco, and their “friends”. China increasing the market share has “upped the game”– and the same old same old are lined up to profit.

We can’t drill, we can’t build coal plants, we can’t build dams or nuclear power plants. During the “Great Depression,” we at least had cheap energy to keep us from completely going under (no thanks to FDR). When energy prices skyrockets, and that causes everything ELSE to skyrocket (except for the economy), where will we all be then?

Unsustainable government spending, a falling dollar, and skyrocketing energy prices are going to sink this country.

….where will we all be then? We will be looking for another planet! yohann …what you and your miopic ilk want to build will not only sink this country but destroy the earth. This is a small planet and small minds want to gain profits over prosperity.

And China, Brazil, other countries are investing heavily in renewable energy sources. We’re already behind, and we should be front of this market we could grow into exports as well as utilize ourselves.

Energy is the muscle that turns the wheel. The wheel’s drive shaft produces food, shelter and clothing. When the price of energy goes up, so does your food, shelter and clothing. In other words, evereything!
