Children, enough of the mindless “socialist” babble you’re repeating. Venezuela was only slightly more socialistic than many European countries for the first 8 years or so of Chavez’s run. The problem in Venezuela is and has been totalitarianism and incompetence.
Trump’s top advisers woke up believing that a rebellion in the Venezuelan military would galvanize a popular uprising and topple a leader they have described as a reviled despot who must be replaced. But, President Nicolas Maduro was still in power and Trump;s advisers were left to scramble for blame pointing to Cuba, Russia and three influential Venezuelan officials, who failed to switch sides, frustrating their plans.
Nobody said regime change was going to be easy.
In their frustration Pompeo and Bolton revealed sensitive intelligence, burning communications channels used by Maduro to communicate with the Russians, and naming the three Venezuelans, heading off any future discussions with them about switching sides. And to what objective? There would have been a significant benefit to keep those channels open so we could try again or just to get intelligence out of them.

Looks like the socialists will hang on for now, with help from Cuba and Russia. I feel bad for the good people of Venezuela.
