As Always the people have traded their security for liberty. Big Brother is never imposed by the state, it is eagerly adopted by people for convenience. Only later do they realize the tyranny. The same goes for socialism and all state control of any sector. Be it health care, electrical power, provision of food or a “universal basic income”’ – people never realize the mistake they made in state control until after everything they were promised is rationed or dissapears. They only start regretting it when they are being euthanized in their hospital beds, dying of hunger, told they must work in the mines or denied electrical light two weeks out of the year. Then they realize thier natural rights to arms and self defense have been denied when they begin to protest and are slaughtered by jack booted thugs, sent to war or rounded up into gulags for slave labor.
All state control ends the same. See venezuela, soviet Russia, cuba, China and the death of western culture in a Europe.
Benjamin Franklin warned us 200 years ago that a people who prefer security over liberty will end up with neither. Of course, as a printer, Franklin would be an “enemy of the people” today, just as he was to the British then.
