I never was a domestic diva. Mom lived with us and did the cooking. When she passed, we ate out a lot. Now that I am retired, my husband is amazed that I won’t learn to cook. Why didn’t he?
My Wife and I years back were on vacation in the Blue Ridge mountains once and stopped to eat late one night at a nice rustic restaurant with a sign that said " Home Cookin’ ". Well we ordered fried chicken,the waitress said it would take about 30mins.,we said OK.Well when it arrived it was frozen chicken,potatoes and corn. It looked like it was Banquet TV Diners put on a plate. My Wife wanted to complain that it was not “Home Cookin’”. I looked at her and agreed but then asked her if we had ever eaten TV diners at home. She said yes so I said we can not really complain cause they are “Home Cookin” This is now our standard joke if we want to eat out,Honey, would you like some Home Cookin’ ?
