Just as with other games and/or sports, there is now a professional circuit of video game players making pretty good livings. If I’m not going to criticize pro ball players, bowlers, chess champs, poker players, race car drivers or any of the other competitive professionals, I can’t see any reason why I would criticize a pro video game player.

Actually, he’d do better becoming a video game developer. He’ll still get to play games while working on games of his creation.

There’s competition sports and there’s competition games. Someday “sports” networks will figure out the difference.
