Somehow, I never thought I would live very long. Surprised and pleased to have made it to 60 in fairly good health.
This cartoon is from 1961, so in comic strip terms they were immortal.
I don’t get this one: how does believing you’re immortal mean there’s an afterlife?
Dirty Old Man: “Do you believe in a hereafter?”
Young Lady: “Why yes.”
Dirty Old Man: “Good…then I guess you know what I’m here after…”
Even though it’s an old strip. it ties in nicely with todays “Pearls Before Swine”.
“Methuselah lived 900 years…but what’s the use of livin’ when no women’ll give in to no cat what’s 900 years…” (Porgy & Bess)…
