For anyone who is interested, the great Mary Douglas has a fascinating discussion of attitudes to barriers and borders in her book, Natural Symbols.

Anyone screaming for a wall on our southern border is a fool and a racist. If you want a wall around our country, demand a wall around the whole damn thing. Otherwise you’re just a damn racist.

There is just as much a threat from Canada as there is from Mexico. There is just as much smuggling through Canada as it comes from Mexico.

All you want a wall between us and Mexico is so that you can shoot brown skinned people. If you think we need a wall around Mexico, but not around Canada, or around our airports, you’re an ignorant racist and I’m sick to death of trying to reason with you. You are what you are and there’s no more hiding it.

There are many better ways to solve our border problems. We do not need a racist wall, costing us millions of dollars per mile. We need to talk and listen to people. But none of you are smart enough to know how to do that.

It’s really too bad we didn’t have The Wall in 2001. For sure, it would have kept out them Saudi terrorists who did the 9/11 attacks.

    For sure.

Yeah, a lame joke if it could even be considered a joke.

how ironic that conservatives, GOP and Trump love to talk about doing things the correct way… the legal way… Apply at the designated port of entry… follow the legal path to citizenship… yet when it comes to getting money for this “wall” they are willing to get it by whatever means they can… including but not limited too destroying peoples lives… and holding thousands of American Gov workers HOSTAGE. If you want the wall do it the right way… the legal way. Not the dictators way… not the terrorist way.

Not the brightest cartoon. Are you talking about condoms or pills? Are you talking about walls or border security? And is the figure on the bed supposed to be female or male? Got things a little tangled in your brain, Mr. Lester? Take an aspirin and have a good night’s sleep and everything will look better in the morning.

But But 4,000 terrorists came into America in the last two years. Of course that is the number that was held up at AIRPORTS, the number caught at the Border…….4 We need a wall around Airports and Shipping ports more than we need a wall from Mexico. And a Wall would not affect the number of people coming to the border to turn themselves in to ask for asylum.

The internet tricks you into thinking that your opinion matters to the rest of the world, but what you think of a particular matter, doesn’t matter to the rest of the world.

It’s just an opportunity for you to see what you wrote online, to think “Lookie what I did, I pulled out a plum!”, and feed your own ego.

It means absolutely nothing to the rest of the world, does nothing to better the world, and does nothing to better you.

It’s like eating dirt. You’re eating, but it does nothing to nourish you, and will eventually kill you.

Wake up people. There’s a real world out there that needs men and women of action, not zombies addicted to their own opinions.
