Yep – it was like this the last time I was at the Empire State Building. An hour wait for tickets, another hour for security, another hour for the elevators… all for a 10 minute jaunt around the top deck!
In olden times it was “I’ve seen that! I’ve been there!”, today it is “I’ve been there, I’ve seen nothing!” Stay at home and visit the Louvre virtually, if you really want to explore it. Or go somewhere else and discover the city, the towns, the landscape and the people yourself, and forget about world famous places.

There’s a poor kid in the bottom right corner who looks like he (or she) has fallen over and is now getting trampled by the crowd.
I thought they had crowd control stuff for this sort of thing.
