If he’s anything like my brother—who tends to go “om nom nom” when he eats—then he could easily be doing it without even realizing it, and it’s hard to stop doing something if you’re not even aware you’re doing it.
Personally, I just learned a long time ago to just tune it out and not sweat over it. Keeps everybody happier that way.

My husband makes a gross sounding noise when he eats too. Of course he can’t hear himself either.
