I was talked out of reading “Lord Of The Flies” and “Animal Farm” in high school.

Wait for the movie version. It’ll spoil it for you.

I was sooo disappointed in the Sophia Loren classic Boy On A Dolphin. After all the animal stories I was reading, I thought it would be about a boy and his pet dolphin!

More riveting than Dick and Jane?

Someday there might be a pandemic Lucy and you will find the love of reading a particularly wonderful passion to have at such a time.

It’s only just begun…..

My first book was ‘Are You My Mother?’ It’s about a chick who falls from the nest and wanders around asking every creature it runs into the title question. I’ll never forget my excitement when I ran to the kitchen and read it to my mother. That moment when all the marks on the page suddenly made sense.

I was four when that happened. My older brother, of course, came home from school and beat me up for learning younger than he did.

The makings of a reader.
