If you want to stop illegal immigration, prosecute the businesses who hire them.
If you want less immigration, stop approving H-1 visas of all types — at least apply standards other than campaign contributions/bribes.

Republicans, especially Trump Disciples, absolutely do not get that it is businesses of all sizes hiring illegals and corporations getting massive H-1 visas that are causing immigration problems.
They totally approve of all the Haitians that Trump imports to work in his ‘enterprises’.
Donald John Trump wants to build a “wall” on our southern border that a majority of his own experts agree isn’t needed and wouldn’t reduce illegal immigration if it was built. We are already at a historic low in “illegal” immigration!
As was pointed out by Pelosi in the meeting with Trump, Donnie will get NO HELP from Democrats in his very expensive bit of foolishness, but, if he wishes to attempt to get Americans to pay for his totally frivolous “wall” instead of the Mexican Government, as he promised over and over during his multitudinous rallies, he should utilize HIS majority in Congress to get it done!
As the self-styled consummate negotiator, Donnie should have no trouble convincing Mexico or his own party to fork over the money! He shouldn’t NEED the Democrats AT ALL!
The idiots on the far side of the wall are not aware that a great many “invaders” fly in and overstay or misuse their visas. A little like Melania. Walls won’t stop them.
I am all for border security to keep our country safe but building a wall like what Trump envisions (most likely with gun towers every 50 feet) is not going to work. Look what a wall did not so long ago with the Soviet Union, and let’s not forget that Great Wall in China. How’d that work out? Tougher immigration laws, more border agents, changing laws to punish employers who attempt to hire them, etc… and mutual efforts with Mexico will work much better. Don’t believe that every one wanting to come into the country is a drug lord, criminal or insane lunatic – while there most likely are some there are many others who legitimately want to pursue a better standard of living. Weed out the “undesirables” and look at the others just like they did at Ellis Island years ago. Not a perfect system but better than a wall, so let’s improve upon it. Don’t believe Democrats want open borders – they do not, they want better laws and improved security as well and it can be done without the Great Wall of Trump!

The answer is simple. Trump promised Mexico would pay for the Wall. When Trump gets the money from Mexico he can build the Wall.
