Because what we have been doing for 100 years is working SOOO well. When we put a Pot Smoker in jail he loses his Job he cant support his family and it cost us 50,000 to 100,000 dollar a year to imprison. The total societal costs can be staggering. but lets outlaw Pot while we Advertise the CRAP out of hard liquor to entice more consumption.

Colorado and Washington have reported DECREASE in DUII, and crimes (especially busts for small amounts of marijuana, which have been filling jails across the country for years, especially for minorities). Medical cannabis definitely works for many conditions, and can NOT kill you, like many of the “proper” pharmaceuticals, like opiates, that are also highly addictive.

Years of using medical for several conditions, getting away from big pharma, and growing my own, has given me better control of those conditions, AND the safety and quality of the medicine I use, needless to say, at much less cost. I stil have concerns about "recreational"use, as I use far less for medicine, than a lot of folks use recreationally, as my concern is relieving pain and stress, that does NOT actually require consuming enough to get “high”. BTW, with many seeking relief and then limiting intake, getting high isn’t even part of the picture. BTW again, a little Valium theey prescribed me for years for muscle spasms, makes one MUCH higher than cannabis used for the same purpose.

Which again is why folks taking prescription meds are FAR more likely to be impaired when driving, etc., than rational use of cannabis so please folks, READ THE WARNINGS ON YOUR “SAFE” PILLS and prescriptions!

More people will be killed by drunk drivers and hand guns in a day, then by people driving stoned

Most citizens respect alcohol and abide by social norms that expect them not be be inebriated during working hours or when responsible for the lives of others. Will they respect marijuana in the same way? Most news stories I see make its use look more like eating candy.

I saw a guy at a bar railing against pot use before he fell off his stool. Some idiot was going on and on about how it will be hard to hire people because they use pot. Does he inquire into their drinking habits? This one’s for you.
