To add the trumpster to Ruhsmore, one needs to start the carving with just a small rock and a picture of a north bound horse’s south end. When done, toss it into the tailings
I remember seeing episodes from a science fiction movie serial on television when I was a boy.
I think it was a version of the Buck Rogers story made in the 1920’s or 1930’s. In the story, the hero was in suspended animation for centuries. When he woke up, the world was ruled by criminals. The supreme leader was called Killer Kane. Anyone who resisted Killer Kane was killed, or controlled with an electronic helmet. The helmets, which were large and cylindrical, made the wearer into a docile, obedient, but dull worker. I imagine that the writers were thinking of criminal kingpins like Al Capone and extrapolating what the world would be like if criminals became the rulers.
I wonder how Killer Kane and his like came to rule the world. Money, of course, but through what means? Smuggling Alcohol? Drugs? Money laundering? Shady Real estate deals?
Wealth without morals breeds contempt for the rules of society and for the law. It breeds contempt for anyone without wealth or power.
It is a sad reflection that the country that played such a big part in defeating Hitler and Tojo, and that faced down Stalin and his followers, is now ‘lead’ by someone with authoritarian tendencies. America’s current president does not believe in the rule of law, only in what is good for him. He does not believe in what is best for “We the People”. He admires authoritarian rulers of the past and the present. He acts like them.
The idiocy at his “rallies” is bad enough. But that man spends the night posting insane things for all the world to see on social media. He’s in the White House of the United States, as president. And he’s unhinged, at best, and he’s exhibiting this every.single.day. You praying congress people and senators, please pray. You doing congress people and senators, please do something. Now. Please.
I keep thinking we are in a class war, with the very top .1% of wealth all over the globe vs. everybody else. The “Golden Rule” for our times is “He who has the gold makes the rules.”

Lincoln wisely and correctly choosing not to use his name, since that’s his favorite thing and he really, really doesn’t deserve it!

And the presidents not on the mountain (or living) are spinning in their graves.

As Lincoln would say: “It WAS my party, and I’ll cry if I want to!”

Sad that the oath to uphold the Constitution has no meaning to Congress or the resident, it seems.
