Did you notice Lisa, that your hero — Dotard Donnie — blamed California for the fires…poor forest management to be exact. Poor California forest management on lands substantially owned by the federal government. Poor forest management for fires burning in urban areas, not the forest.
What a pathetic dolt. And now he thinks you need a license to buy corn flakes.
Let’s look at actions needed rather than just passive prayer. Climate change needs to be addressed NOW rather than continuing to kick the can down the road. Recently read an article that the hole in the ozone layer should be healed in about 50 years when the protocol to ban fluorocarbons was signed in 1987 and enforced beginning in 1989 so the fix takes a lot longer than it took to “break” things.
The U.S. could and should have been the leader in renewable energy since the U.S. was the leader in using fossil fuel in the first place. China is the leader in solar panels and the manufacturing process requires a long, expensive set-up. Rather than Trump’s stupid tariff’s on solar panels (stick approach) this would be a good use of tax incentives (carrot) to encourage new development.
Science deniers are the same today, as they were when Galileo said the earth circled the sun. The Inquisition lives on in those that fear the truth would upset their little world.
Have to wonder just what Benson is saying about these tragedies … Is she trying to console her Valley View readers? Or is she saying that ‘Prayers’ will solve all of our problems?
I love requests for prayers and thoughts.- no cost- no effort- relieves guilt - can take credit for any positives, from good weather to the work of others - absolved of any responsibility for past or future tragedies - builds camaraderie with other thoughts-and- prayers peeps
the number of “unaccounted for” has risen – as of this morning’s news – to 1000. How about stopping the acrimonious faux politicking & ask “what you can do” to help prevent such disasters. Our local fire dept’s all very strongly recommend the creation of “defensible space” around your dwelling & other “valuable structures.” If you live in a place that surrounds you with those beautiful, but dry, trees & shrubs – and wildfire in your neighborhood is a distinct possibility – then you should think very seriously about clearing it out at least to your lot line. Tall, dry grass also burns quickly… AND – have a very serious discussion with your neighbors! (Along with the prayers.)

The president, on the other hand, likes Americans who don’t die in fires.

Oh, goodie. Thoughts and prayers. Again, And again. And again. I once heard someone remark, “Pray. But row the boat.”

Too bad republicans had cut the fire budget and left 900 engines idle, oh well, hopes and prayers!
