Careful Mutt, the floor is probably a bit slick at this point.

Although I personally would prefer to remain focused on Gasoline Alley and its characters and history, as @Carparama said on Nov. 22, Jim Scancarelli is clearly having a ball with his tribute to many classic strips and legends of years gone by. He has certainly earned that right so with that in mind, I am content to go along for the ride.

Love that ast panel. The feet in the air with the oversize shoes is as “Al Capp” as you can get. Jim does a great looking Fosdick.

Now, lets get back to the GA history….

Although I personally would prefer to stay focused on Gasoline Alley and its history, as @Carparama said on Nov. 22, Jim Scancarelli is obviously having a ball with spotlighting characters from all these classic strips. With that said and understood, I’ll just sit back and enjoy the ride. (But will continue to look forward to seeing Walt, Skeezix et al again.)

I guess I’m just an old grump, but as I follow this arc, I find it uneven and I seem to recall that in past visits to the Old Cartoons Home that he was more accurate in depiction of the original cartoonists’ styles and that it was limited to them. There are “Filler People” here with no recognizable connection to the old time comics. Some of the strips are quite enjoyable, other’s pretty flat. He’s done a good job with the flashbacks on Walt’s life, though. I think it’s been appropriate to include Barney and Snuffy. I wonder if King Features has done something similar on their online collection?

“Don’t worry, Chief, its merely a flesh wound.” (As the wind whistles through the hole in his chest.)
