When I was growing up, the idea that everyone should be encouraged to vote went without saying. “If you can’t vote my way, vote anyway! But VOTE!” The fact that Republicans have actually embraced voter suppression as a policy tells you everything you need to know about just how reprehensible and un-American that party has become.
