I will always remember Steve Ditko for the way he drew ENORMOUS hands and for his psychedelic artwork in Dr. Strange comics. Probably why I grew up reading DC comics – my parents told me kids who read those “edgy” Marvel comics wore Van shoes and smoked pot.
Ditko was one of the greats of the Silver age. Both as a writer and artist. He worked for the major’s Marvel & DC, but also did a lot of smaller label stuff. Of course that was back before Neil Adams and others forced the publishers to start paying them enough that they didn’t have to do a dozen pages a day to pay the rent.
